Saree
A saree (also spelled sari) is a traditional Indian dress. Traditionally, it is made from a single piece of lightweight, often highly decorated fabric. However, today, they are commonly worn with a blouse and/or petticoat as well.
The saree, while native to the Indian subcontinent, is worn by women all over the world. It is an extremely versatile garment that can be used for everyday activities or for a formal night on the town. It has been the inspiration for hundreds of fashion designers as well.
The saree is sold in numerous lengths and fabrics. Longer sarees are generally worn for special occasions, while shorter versions are used for everyday living. Luxurious fabrics such as silk are usually reserved for the most formal of sarees.
